PSG 'prepared' to offer Kylian Mbappe nine-figure bonus but Real Madrid remain 'confident'

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly willing to pay Kylian Mbappe a £150million signing-on fee if he puts pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.

The World Cup winner, 23, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. PSG are desperate to retain their prized asset and it's believed they've upped their signing bonus from £125m to £150m with time running out.

PSG are also thought to be offering Mbappe an annual salary of £21m, just over £400,000-a-week. The French club's Qatari owners are said to be concerned about losing the talent ahead of the World Cup, which takes place in Qatar later this year.

But, according to BBC Sport, Madrid remains Mbappe's preferred destination. When asked about his future earlier this month, the striker said: "I haven't made my decision, there are new elements to consider. Which elements? Just new elements."

It's believed Mbappe will use PSG's new offer to renegotiate a deal with Real, who are "relaxed" about the situation. The Spanish giants attempted to sign the player last summer and are "confident" he will finally pull on the famous white shirt this summer.

Real are even thought to have cooled their interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, such is their faith in signing Mbappe. Several top European sides - including Manchester United and Manchester City - are said to be after Haaland's services.

One sticking point could be Mbappe's parents, who act as his representatives. PSG have reportedly offered them a £42m commission payment if he stays in the French capital, although that's not expected to have a big impact in the player's decision.

It's easy to see why Real are interested in Mbappe. The forward has scored 160 goals in 209 appearances for PSG since joining the French club - initially on loan - in the summer of 2017. He's also scored 26 goals at international level, earning 54 caps.

Mbappe's has also lifted plenty of trophies. He's won four Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups, two French League Cups, two French Super Cups, the World Cup and Nations League. But he's yet to receive a Champions League winners' medal, losing the final in 2020.

The youngster's chances of winning European football's biggest competition could be enhanced by joining Real. The Spanish outfit knocked PSG out of this season's Champions League in the last 16, despite Mbappe scoring in both legs.

"I've not decided my future," insisted Mbappe in February - prior to PSG's European exit. "I play for Paris Saint-Germain, one of the best clubs in the world." He went on to say: "I give my best and then we will see what happens next season."

A move to Real would see Mbappe link-up with his international team-mate Karim Benzema, who has become the favourite to win this year's Ballon d'Or after a stunning season in the Spanish capital. The veteran, 34, has scored 37 goals in 36 games this term.
