France has begun investigating Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the Qatari president of French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), on suspicion of an illegal conflict of interest over broadcasting rights, prosecutors in Paris said on Sunday.
The preliminary probe is linked to Al-Khelaifi's twin stewardship of the Champions League title holders and the beIN Media Group and involves a meeting on broadcasting rights with the French football league's representatives in July 2024, the prosecutor's office said, confirming a report in L'Equipe sports newspaper.
