PS5SX2 Update Lets Jailbroken PS5 Owners Emulate PS2 Discs, But There's a Catch

The PS5 homebrew scene has gained another development with PS5SX2, an AI-assisted emulator project designed to run PlayStation 2 games on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles. Its version 2.01 update introduces a feature that distinguishes it from earlier approaches: the ability to read compatible physical PS2 game discs, copy their contents to storage, and launch the games through emulation.

Developed by Swordpdf, PS5SX2 uses the PCSX2 emulator project as its foundation. The update could make it easier for players to revisit their existing PlayStation 2 libraries without relying on downloaded game files from unofficial websites.
