PS Plus games leaving in September include Horizon Forbidden West and Alien Isolation

PlayStation Plus is removing 13 games in September as a bunch of excellent titles come to the service.

Several notable games are on the chopping block (which we’ve listed below) including Sony’s very own Horizon Forbidden West, one of the best action-adventure games currently available to subscribers.

Released in 2022, the game is a direct sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and continues the story of Aloy, a skilled hunter searching for a cure to a ravenous plague in a post-apocalyptic world populated by fierce animalistic machines (think robot dinosaurs).

Forbidden West arrived to rapturous acclaim, with an 88 Metacritic score and a rating of 7.9 from users of the review aggregation site. If you like Assassin’s Creed and the recent Tomb Raider games, you’ll love it.

However, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members now have until September 17 to play it as part of their subscriptions. That’s also the date when the rest of the games will be removed from the service.

The others include survival horror game Alien Isolation (a must if you’ve got the bug for evil ETs after watching Alien Romulus), stylistic Japanese RPG Nier Replicant (from Square Enix, the developer behind the epochal Final Fantasy series), and the card-playing strategy game Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

In fact, several Square Enix games are leaving PS Plus next month. The rest are all part of the Star Ocean series and range from 2003’s Star Ocean: Till the End of Time to 2022’s Star Ocean: The Divine Force.

Unlike turn-based RPGs, which aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, the Star Ocean games generally feature real-time combat. You can form a party of characters and then switch between them during battles to take advantage of their unique skills.

The departures come as a new set of titles are added to the service today (August 20), including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Wild Hearts, and Watch Dogs 2.

These are all the games leaving PlayStation Plus on September 17:

  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Midnight Suns
  • Alien Isolation
  • Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2
  • Cloudpunk
  • Nier Replicant
  • Spiritfarer
  • Star Ocean: The Divine Force
  • Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
  • Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
  • Star Ocean: First Departure R
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope
