Tina O'Brien was congratulated by her Coronation Street co-stars when she announced her daughter had landed a plum TV job.
The actress, 38, who plays Sarah Platt in the ITV soap, revealed Scarlett, 13, had bagged herself a role on BBC One's Waterloo Road.
Tina was in the Rochdale-based series from 2010-2011, playing the role of pupil, Bex Fisher.
The soap stalwart posted the exciting news on Instagram with a pic of a smiling Scarlett and the rest of the cast in the filming studio.
Tina captioned the post: "Very excited to finally be able to announce that my gorgeous, lovely, talented Scarlett Thomas will be in the new series of Waterloo Road #proudmum."
The actress' tribute went down a storm with her Corrie colleagues with many congratulating Scarlett on her stunning achievement.
Helen Flanagan, who used to play Rosie Webster on the cobbles, replied with a love emoji.
Catherine Tyldesley, who played Rovers barmaid Eva Price gushed: "That girl has always been the brightest of stars."
While Lucy Fallon, who starred as Tina's on-screen daughter Bethany on the soap posted a heart emoji.
Acting runs in the family for Scarlett, whose father is former Corrie star Ryan Thomas, 37.
And her uncle, Adam Thomas, will play be playing her dad in Waterloo Road.
When the show returns later this year, Adam is set to reprise his role as Donte Charles.
The actor made the exciting announcement that Scarlett will play his on-screen daughter Izzy during an appearance on BBC's Morning Live today.
Proud dad Ryan also shared a sweet message for his daughter. He wrote: "The secret is finally out!!! As a Father & big brother it doesn’t get much better in life to find out that my brother is going back to " Waterloo Road " where it all started for him in his career to then find out Scarlett is going to play his daughter in the show. @adamthomas21 @scarlettjthomas26 @waterlooroad."
Scarlett will soon be a big sister as Ryan and former Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh, 30 have just announced they're expecting a little girl in the spring.
The couple already have a son, Roman, two.
"Our baby girl is due in late spring – we can't wait," Lucy told Hello! magazine.
The insider added : "Ryan has a son and a daughter so he isn’t worried about the sex. But Lucy wants a girl to complete family after enjoying being a stepmother to Scarlett."
