Proud Kym Marsh walks red carpet with her 'hero' dad as he battles incurable cancer

Proud daughter Kym Marsh dazzled as walked the red carpet with her parents David and Pauline Marsh.

Kym was all smiles as she posed for snaps with her mum and dad as she hosted the Pride of Birmingham Awards on Monday (March 7).

The glam actress, who is joining the BBC's rebooted school drama Waterloo Road alongside fellow former Coronation Street star Rachel Leskovac, wowed in a figure-hugging black and silver midi dress.

She teamed the high-neck dress with strappy open-toe heels and she wore her long wavy hair styled into a ponytail.

Kym, 45, completed the look with smokey eyeshadow and a nude lipstick.

She wrapped an arm around her father, who last year was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer.

David looked dapper in a black tuxedo suit with a red velvet bow tie.

And Kym's mum Pauline dazzled in a stunning blue sequinned gown with a black sequinned jacket as she stood arm-in-arm with her husband.

Last year Kym revealed the devastating news that the disease has spread to her dad's pelvis, spine, ribs and left leg.

In January the star, who also hosts the MEN's Pride of Manchester Awards, was asked who she would nominate for an award herself, and she said her dad.

"My dad is battling cancer at the moment, he has incurable cancer now and that was news that we received last year,” she said.

“Yet he still goes out of his way to help us as a family or other people, he doesn’t ever see anybody stuck in a situation without helping them.

“Not long after he had been told his cancer was terminal, he wanted to do a film with me for Morning Live to raise awareness and reach out to men to urge them to get checked.

“Despite the fact that he was still coming to terms with his own diagnosis and his own pain, he wanted to do that.

"I think he is so inspirational and he’s my hero.”

In October Kym, who played Michelle Connor in Coronation Street from 2006 to 2019, was walked down the aisle by her father at The Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst as she married Parachute Regiment army major Scott Ratcliff.

She was also joined at the awards by her hubby, who she began dating back in 2018 after being introduced by their mutual friend Antony Cotton who plays Sean Tully in Corrie.

Scott also looked smart in a black suit and Parachute Regiment wings tie.

Kym, who presents BBC's Morning Live with Gethin Jones, will play Nicky Walters, a mother to two pupils and school canteen worker, in Waterloo Road.
