Protests In Jerusalem Demand Netanyahu's Resignation

Benjamin Netanyahu Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Protests demanding the resignation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have continued into their second day, with demonstrators gathering outside the Knesset in Jerusalem. The protests, which began on Sunday, saw thousands of people expressing their discontent with Netanyahu's leadership.

Chanting slogans and waving signs, protesters accused Netanyahu of failing to secure the release of hostages in Gaza. Some could be heard shouting, 'You are the leader, you are guilty!' while others chanted 'Bibi, you failed. Go home.' Netanyahu, often referred to as 'Bibi' in Israel, has faced mounting criticism over his handling of various issues.

Organizers of the protests have vowed to maintain a presence outside the Knesset and the Supreme Court until Wednesday, coinciding with the start of the Israeli parliament's spring recess. Some demonstrators even camped out overnight to ensure their voices are heard.

Despite the growing calls for his resignation, Netanyahu has remained defiant. In a news conference held before undergoing surgery, he dismissed the idea of early elections, arguing that such a move would only benefit Hamas, the militant group in control of Gaza.

The ongoing protests reflect the deep divisions within Israeli society and the dissatisfaction with Netanyahu's leadership. As the demonstrations continue, it remains to be seen how the prime minister will respond to the growing pressure from the public.
