A 28-YEAR-OLD man has thrown objects at Nigel Farage in Barnsley town centre, narrowly missing the Reform UK leader.
Farage said he believes the objects were some wet cement from a work site followed by a coffee cup.
He was on top of the Reform battle bus when the incident happened and police said the man who threw the objects has been arrested.
Farage also said he had been warned by police not to get off the bus.
In a post on Twitter/X, he said: "My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today. I will not be bullied or cowed by a violent left-wing mob who hate our country."
The National has approached South Yorkshire police for further comment.
It comes after Farage cancelled his party leadership interview which was scheduled to be broadcast on the BBC on Tuesday evening.
Nick Robinson had been due to grill the Reform UK leader although the schedule now lists an episode of Tokyo Vice in its place.
A statement from South Yorkshire Police said: "We have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of public order offences following disorder in Barnsley town centre today.
"It is believed that the man threw objects from a nearby construction area. A suspect was quickly detained and remains in police custody."
