Project Sunrise is already spawning enemies and vendors on old Destiny 2 destinations

Project Sunrise for Destiny 2 showcased its upcoming features coming as part of version 0.4, including entity spawns, subclass switching, and a working emote wheel. There’s no release date for the update, but it will be available soon.

Breshi, one of many community members working on the Project Sunrise mod for Destiny 2, posted a preview of the upcoming features on Aug. 19. The biggest addition so far is the entity spawner. Using the Sunrise menu, you can spawn enemies that will attack you or spawn ally entities, such as Frames, to make them fight each other. If you want to mess around a bit more, there’s even an entity scaler.

In the preview, the enemies are location-specific, and factions and rank variants aren’t working properly. However, you can still recreate iconic Destiny 2 moments, like the Dominus Ghaul boss fight from the Red War campaign.

Among the entities are vendors with vendor menus that you can interact with. The menus have what you’d expect from a vendor, featuring bounties, consumables, and quests, but picking them up seemingly does nothing at this stage.

Other features in the preview include the ability to switch subclasses and subclass elements (such as grenades, jumps, and subclass trees), a functioning emote wheel, and a series of features still in development.

Project Sunrise is a community mod for Destiny 2, and it has already made plenty of progress since its release. It launched as a way to revisit the Season of Arrivals build of Destiny 2. Since Season of Arrivals took place before the content vaulting, the build contains the Red War missions, Titan, Leviathan, and other areas considered relics of the past.

There’s no playable content (at least for now), as there are no NPCs, activities, or loot. It’s a client-side build you can use primarily to explore old destinations, reminisce about the old Destiny 2 days, and even find areas that were never used in the final game.

However, enemies and mechanics are in the build, and because it’s an open-source mod, there’s a community of passionate and talented developers constantly working on it.
