'Professional baby namer' gets paid over £7k to help indecisive parents

A 'professional baby name consultant' has been blasted online after revealing she gets paid up to £7,000 to help indecisive parents come up with the perfect moniker for their child.

Taylor Humphrey, 33, offers 'bespoke naming services' and ' perinatal support' through her website , What's in a Baby Name.

She offers one-on-one chats with parents to help them come up with the right name, and also performs genealogical research if required.

Taylor, who is based in New York and California, said she gets paid between $1,500 and $10,000 (£1,143 and £7,621) per job - and some social media users have questioned the unique job.

On her website, Taylor wrote: " Our choices - even the names we choose for our babies - have cosmic significance.

"The little people we create, the way we raise and shape them, is the gift we give to the future. What do you choose to bring forth? What legacy are you offering to our descendants?"

To aid her business, Taylor has a booming social media presence including TikTok, where she has over 260,000 followers.

Many people ask her advice on baby names, and Taylor is more than happy to oblige.

In one clip, a follower had asked what would be a good name for a sibling to a child named Emory Mackenzie, and soon Taylor offered her opinion.

She said: "Ok I love this, we are already seeing a big name trend alert, Emory is the name of a really renowned liberal arts school and I'm finding that a lot of parents are choosing these great private university names for their babies, so be on the lookout for that as a trend.

"Mackenzie, an amazing gender-neutral name, originally Gaelic, Scottish. With these elements, I would offer something that's either also gender-neutral or something that's maybe a little bit more feminine just to beef up Emory for your son, and something that just feels really tightly woven in an Anglo Saxon air."

She then goes on to give some suggestions, including Adler, Bryony, Carys, Fiona, Pippa, Aniston, Elliette, and Carling.

After Taylor's story was told online, Twitter users were quick to share their opinion.

One user said: "I totally missed my calling.

And another commented: "This has to be one of those things where you're so rich you don't know what else to spend your money on."
