Two boys, both 15, arrested after girls ‘raped after being approached outside McDonald’s’

Arrests have been made after two teenage girls were allegedly raped after being approached outside a McDonald’s.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following reports of an attack on a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl on Saturday night in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

On Tuesday two 15-year-old boys, both from Coventry, were arrested on suspicion of rape of a female child under 16.

They remain in police custody at this time, police said in a statement.

One of the girls was raped between 7pm and 8pm in Riversley Park, Warwickshire Police said, while the other was attacked in Jubilee Park between 7pm and 10pm.

Detective Inspector Paul Sartoris said: “These were shocking incidents and were devastating for both victims who are being supported by specially trained officers.

“A full investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding these incidents, which I recognise will cause great concern in the community.

“The public can expect to see a heightened police presence in and around Nuneaton town centre while officers continue to conduct their enquiries.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed either incident to please get in touch as any information you may have could really help with our investigation.

“ I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage who may have been driving close to Jubilee Park between 7pm and 10pm, or Riversley Park between 7pm and 8pm yesterday evening to also make contact with us.”

Police have urged anyone with information about the attacks to come forward.

The force can be contacted on 101, quoting incident number 326 for the Riversley Park attack or 363 for the Jubilee Park attack of 15 April 2023.
