Prisoners In Russian Penal Colony Take Staff Hostage

According to Russian state media reports on Friday, prisoners in a maximum security penal colony in the southern Volgograd region have taken several staff members hostage. The incident occurred during a disciplinary commission meeting at penal colony IK-19.

The penitentiary service stated that the prisoners seized employees during the disciplinary commission meeting, where cases of malicious violators are reviewed. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
