The mood is "very tense" inside a high-security prison that has reportedly been on lockdown since Monday.
Relatives of inmates at Strangeways Prison have said that prisoners haven't been allowed to shower or exercise for several days. They have been confined to their cells since Monday, June 6, while families have also been banned from visiting the Category A jail in Greater Manchester until Friday, June 10, reports the Manchester Evening News.
One woman, whose 19-year-old son is currently an inmate at the jail, said he told her that mental health among the prisoners was starting to deteriorate and that the mood inside had become "very tense." The reason for the lockdown has not been formally confirmed.
