A prison officer is in hospital after being stabbed at a maximum security correctional facility in Melbourne.
The man is in a serious condition after suffering wounds to his upper body following an incident at the Metropolitan Remand Centre at Ravenhall on Thursday.
"Police are investigating," a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
"It's alleged a male prisoner set upon the officer about 11am."
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed the officer remains in hospital, where he is being treated.
