Prison officer from Saggart appears in court charged with possession of €144,000 worth of drugs

A prison officer has appeared in court charged with possession of €144,000 worth of drugs.

Marta Cypara, 37, from Saggart Hill Mews in Saggart, Co Dublin appeared before a hearing of Tallaght District Court this morning. Ms Cypara, who works in the prisoner escort unit of the Irish Prison Service, is accused of possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying it.

She also stands accused of the unlawful possession of cannabis with an estimated value of €140,0000 at her address in Saggart on Saturday, September 17. Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution, Garda Michael Brislane of Tallaght Garda Station said Ms Cypara made “no reply” after caution.
