Prison officer explains what it's like being a woman in a male jail after leaving stage career

Jessica Hardy looked set to pursue a career on the stage after studying professional dance and musical theatre at college. But a stint of work experience changed all that.

She comes from a family with a history of working in the prison service. But it was a work experience stint at a prison service college when she was 15 that set her on course to follow her relatives.

Now, aged 21, she's a prison officer working inside a male jail. Jessica told NorthantsLive: "It’s about as far away as you can get from dance and theatre. But everyone’s very supportive. It’s like a big family.
