Prison nurse from Manchester jailed after sending 'flirtatious' texts and telling inmate she loved him

A prison nurse from Manchester told an inmate that she 'loved' him in a string of 'flirtatious' texts and phone calls.

Elyse Hibbs, 25, admitted to taking part in the 'inappropriate relationship' when she worked at HMP Parc, in Bridgend, South Wales, but claimed that she was 'exploited' by the man. Hibbs sobbed as she was jailed for six months at Cardiff Crown Court today (Tuesday October 18).

The court heard how Hibbs had worked at the category B prison since September 2018 and met the inmate when she gave him medical treatment. After concerns were raised about the inmates’ behaviour he was moved to HMP Manchester in May 2021.
