Britain's Kate, Princess of Wales smiles during her visit to Sebby's Corner in north London, Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. Princess Kate apologized Monday, March 11, 2024 for “confusion” caused by her

Kate, the Princess of Wales, presented Carlos Alcaraz with the champion's trophy at the Wimbledon men's final at the All England Club on Sunday. This marked her second public appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March. Kate, the wife of Prince William, received a warm welcome with a standing ovation upon her arrival at Centre Court to witness Alcaraz's victory over Novak Djokovic.

Following the trophy ceremony, Kate engaged in a conversation with Alcaraz in a room within the tournament's main stadium. She commended his performance, stating, “You played so well. Enjoy the win.” Dressed in a purple outfit, one of Wimbledon’s official colors, Kate descended from the stands to the playing surface to fulfill her duties as the patron of the All England Club. She interacted with ball kids, players, and applauded Alcaraz after presenting him with the winner's trophy for the second consecutive year.

Notably, Kate and her daughter, Princess Charlotte, arrived at the tournament site in southwest London before the final commenced. They greeted various individuals, including U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu and young British tennis players. The Royal Box also hosted Kate's sister, Pippa Matthews, actors Tom Cruise and Benedict Cumberbatch, and former Wimbledon champions like Rod Laver, Andre Agassi, and Stefan Edberg.

Since 2016, Kate has served as the patron of the All England Club. Despite missing the women's final on Saturday, where Barbora Krejcikova emerged victorious, Kate's presence at the men's final was well-received. In March, she disclosed her cancer diagnosis and ongoing chemotherapy treatment. Her recent public appearances, including the birthday parade for King Charles III, have shown her making progress in her health journey.

While Prince William, a regular attendee of Wimbledon finals, was absent on Sunday, he was in Germany to support England in the men’s soccer European Championship final. Queen Camilla, the wife of King Charles III, visited Wimbledon earlier in the week, further highlighting the royal family's engagement with the prestigious tournament.
