Princess Eugenie's beautiful £6,000-a-month home in New York after job offer

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's move to Canada and later to California appeared unprecedented, they were in fact the latest in a long line of royals who have either lived, worked or studied in the US.

One member of the family who spent two years living in New York is Prince Harry's close cousin, Princess Eugenie, after she was offered a job working with auction house Paddle8. The royal returned to live in London in 2015 but has returned to the state a number of times over the years.

After moving out of her parents' home in Windsor, Princess Eugenie shared an apartment in St James's Palace with her elder sister, Princess Beatrice.

However, the royal also spent time living in New York after she was offered a job at online auction house Paddle8.

Despite the opportunity to live in a huge apartment in a central location, Eugenie opted to base herself downtown in the Meatpacking District.

According to Apartment Home Living, the average rental cost of a one-bedroom apartment in the trendy area will set you back approximately £6,000 per month.

Inside pictures show Princess Eugenie’s apartment block had exposed brick walls, high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views across the city.

At the time, it was also reported that her block came with its own concierge and home gym.

A royal source at the time in 2013 told Us Weekly: "She enjoys walking to work every day." A separate account confirmed this, telling the publication: "She loves New York!"

During her time in New York, Eugenie was often photographed going to Madison Square Garden, attending basketball games, sampling different restaurants, shopping and watching fashion shows.

The royal returned to London in 2015 and later married long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank at St George's Chapel in 2018. The pair became parents to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank when he was born in 2021.

It was reported earlier this year that the couple intended to split their time between the UK and Portugal after Jack had secured a job with property tycoon Mike Meldman who is managing the 300-home CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club development.

The publication revealed: "Mr Brooksbank is understood to be working on marketing, sales and promotion" and they also revealed that prices at the highly sought-after development will start from a staggering £3.6million.

When they are in the UK, the family of three live at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace. The cottage was previously the home of Prince Harry and Meghan who revealed their true thoughts on the grace and favour property in their self-titled Netflix documentary.

Harry told the camera: “As far as people were concerned, we were living in a palace, and we were. But in a cottage on palace grounds.” Meghan then added: “Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does it has palace in the name, but Nottingham Cottage was small. He (Harry) would just hit his head constantly in that place because he’s so tall.”

Harry continued: “The whole thing is on a slight lean, really low ceilings so I don’t know who was there before but they must have been very short.” Meghan added that no one “could believe what it was actually like behind the scenes”. Harry said: “Oprah (Winfrey) came over for tea didn’t she and she sat down and she goes ‘no-one would ever believe it’.”
