Princess Charlotte steals the show with funny faces at Commonwealth Games

Princess Charlotte stole the show at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday (August 2) with her comical expressions. Her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, sat alongside her as she grinned through the swimming competition.

The trio began their day at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham. They arrived shortly after the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children, Lady Louise and James. Kate was seen pointing and explaining the event to Charlotte whilst William kept hold of the programmes.

Birmingham Live reports the royals were cheering on England's 1,500m freestyle swimmer Luke Turley. The 7 year old was seen rolling her eyes following a comment from her father, then cracked a smile as she watched Turley near the finish.

She wore a black and white striped dress and had her hair in plaited pig tails while her mum looked chic in an all-white suit. Royals have been attending different events all week.

But it was Charlotte's appearance - without her siblings - which captured the public's attention like no other. The Cambridges attended days after the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, which saw Charles, the Prince of Wales, attend.

Charles said: “On October 7 last year, this specially-created Baton left Buckingham Palace to travel across the Commonwealth. Over the past 294 days, it has carried not only my message to you, but also the shared hopes and dreams of each nation and territory through which it has passed, as it made its way to Birmingham."

Royal fans have been left delighted by Charlotte's appearance - days after her sweet video message to the Lionesses ahead of the Euro 2022 final at Wembley on Sunday, July 31.
