Princess Charlotte's attitude to George has Queen and Kate Middleton joking

Watching siblings interact as they grow together is one of the joys of parenthood.

Seeing them grow and develop different, and often contrasting, personalities can be the cornerstone of family life. And things are no different if you happen to be a royal, it seems.

A nation has been captivated by the many public appearances of young Windsors Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The Queen's platinum jubilee, in particular, provided the perfect opportunity to chart the youngsters' progress.

And the stark difference between George and Charlotte has been noted by many, not least their own mother and great-grandmother, reports the Mirror. The Duchess of Cambridge spoke about her two eldest children at an engagement and revealed that Princess Charlotte is certainly the one in charge.

A mum who spoke to the Duchess told reporters: "She said that Charlotte is growing up really fast. She is the one in charge." The mum continued: "We have both got two-year-olds and they are ruling the roost. It was a bit of a mummy chat. [She said] they are both becoming really good friends, Prince George and Princess Charlotte."

But The Duchess of Cambridge isn't the only member of the Royal Family to comment on the difference between George and Princess Charlotte. The Queen has also joked that her great-granddaughter is the far more confident one out of the two.

At a school engagement in 2019, The Queen asked one of the small children if she "looked after" her younger sister at school, and the girl's mum replied: "It's the other way around." The Queen quipped: "It's like that with Charlotte and George."

Her Majesty is known to be very close to the Cambridge family, with Catherine confirming that the monarch is very "fond of" Princess Charlotte. Speaking on ITV documentary ‘Our Queen at 90’ The Duchess of Cambridge revealed that the Queen is enamoured with Princess Charlotte, she said: “The Queen was really thrilled that it was a little girl.

“I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington she was one of our first visitors here. I think she’s very fond of Charlotte. She’s always watching what she’s up to.” Princess Charlotte previously showed that she is very much in charge of her brothers at Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.

Princess Charlotte joined her family on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the final appearance of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee after the and prompted a reaction from royal fans on social media. As the National Anthem began to bellow from the palace courtyard, the young royal noticed that her big brother was not standing correctly for the song as he did not have his hands at his side.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge quickly rectified this as she gave Princess Charlotte a light nudge and told him to place his hands where they should be. This discreet move left many fans praising her for the way she acted and the obvious respect she has for her royal role.

One fan wrote: "Love Princess Charlotte - she is already such a a pro at Royal events and keeping her brothers in line!" Another quipped: "Totally agree the next Princess in the making who will be there for George".

Other fans compared her actions to her great-aunt Princess Anne who is famous for her no nonsense attitude. One account said: "Princess Charlotte is a young princess Anne. She makes Louis stop flapping and nudges George to keep his arms on his side. You go girl."
