Paolo Liuzzo, the ex-boyfriend of Princess Beatrice, tragically passed away from a suspected drug overdose at the citizenM Miami Worldcenter hotel on Feb. 7. His body was later transported to his hometown in Long Island, N.Y., where a funeral was held on Feb. 16. The Miami Police Department is investigating his death as an overdose, with the case remaining open.
Reports suggest that Liuzzo was struggling before his passing, leading a fast-paced lifestyle involving partying and gambling. A friend mentioned concerns about his financial situation, indicating a cycle of borrowing money to pay off debts. Liuzzo and Princess Beatrice began dating in 2005 when she was 17 and he was 24, with her mother, Sarah Ferguson, initially supporting their relationship.
However, Liuzzo's past legal troubles resurfaced during their relationship, resulting in his return to the US for violating probation. Their romance ended publicly in 2006, with Liuzzo later claiming he was never in love with the princess. He faced further legal issues in 2009, including charges of fraud and cocaine possession after crashing a rental car in Australia.
Liuzzo, who reportedly worked as an art industry consultant, never married and passed away at a young age. Princess Beatrice has since moved on, marrying Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020 and welcoming a daughter named Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi. Edoardo also has a son from a previous relationship.
