The marriage of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has drawn public attention in recent weeks, with speculation about the couple's relationship surfacing across several outlets. Reports suggest that the pair may be facing challenges following the investigation involving her father former Prince Andrew, though sources close to them have offered differing accounts of the situation.

Multiple sources said that Mapelli Mozzi has 'been pulling away' and is often overseas. While rumours of distance between the Princess and her husband have circulated, others insist the claims are exaggerated. Here is a closer look about their relationship, the context behind the speculation, and the facts that have been confirmed.

Reports of Strain in the Marriage

Princess Beatrice, 37, and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 42, have been married for six years and share two daughters. Some reports allege that Mapelli Mozzi is 'creating distance' between himself and his wife's family and spending more time overseas, which has prompted the speculation about the state of their marriage.

The source claims: 'Things haven't been great for a while between them, but Beatrice has been determined to soldier on and forge a path through. Beatrice is quite different from her sister.'

They added, 'She really wants to almost naively see the good in people and will turn a blind eye to uncomfortable truths – that is why she was blind to her father's behaviour.'

However, Princess Beatrice 'wants to stay together, but he seems more and more distracted by work and travel. Just when she needs him most, he's been pulling away.'

Work Commitments and Family Concerns

Mapelli Mozzi is reportedly often overseas due to his property and design firm Banda. A source said, 'There's been distance between them with his much-increased work travel lately, which he has been posting out [on social media] heavily in a way he didn't before.'

It is understood that he has made frequent trips to and from the United States since the beginning of the year. Another source said, 'He's really worried his in-laws will affect his business. Banda has been taking off lately, and he's found some great investors among the wealthy Cotswolds set, but it's taking up a lot of his time and energy. He's all about himself at the moment. You have to feel for Beatrice.'

Reports also suggest that Mapelli Mozzi's family is concerned and uneasy about the Yorks' involvement in the Epstein files, fearing reputational damage. Sky News reported that the Mapelli Mozzis are 'beside themselves and furious' that their son is 'wrapped up in the York wreckage.'

Relationship Timeline and Family Life

The couple have two daughters: four-year-old Sienna and one-year-old Athena. Beatrice is also stepmother to Mapelli Mozzi's nine-year-old son, Christopher 'Wolfie' Woolf, from his previous relationship with Taiwanese-American architect Dara Huang.

Though their families had long been acquainted—Mapelli Mozzi's late stepfather, Christopher Shale, was a close friend of the Yorks—the pair reportedly reconnected in the autumn of 2018.

After meeting again at Princess Eugenie's wedding that October, their romance progressed swiftly. By March 2019, they made their first official public appearance together at the National Portrait Gallery Gala. In September 2019, Mapelli Mozzi proposed during a weekend getaway to Italy. He presented Beatrice with a bespoke ring he co-designed with British jeweller Shaun Leane. Buckingham Palace announced the engagement shortly after, noting the couple's 'shared love of family and a commitment to their future together.'

They married in July 2020 in a private ceremony during the pandemic. Nearly a year later, they welcomed their first child together, and in 2024 The Palace announced the arrival of their second.

Divorce Rumours Dismissed

Despite speculation, other outlets have reported a different picture. PEOPLE quoted a source describing the divorce rumours as 'complete nonsense.'

The couple were also seen together attending a birthday party at Eel Sushi in London's Notting Hill neighbourhood on Friday, 20 March, smiling and appearing relaxed, according to Daily Mail.
