Princess Anne visits Edinburgh Zoo to feed the penguins during visit to the capital

Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, have been pictured feeding the penguins at Edinburgh Zoo on Friday during a trip to the capital.

The Princess Royal arrived in Edinburgh on Friday afternoon, June 3, with dozens of lucky visitors at the zoo getting the chance to catch a glimpse of royalty, as the pair seemed to be enjoying their tour of the park.

As part of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, Edinburgh locals were given a rare surprise while at the popular visitor attraction in Corstorphine, as celebrations continue across the nation to mark the triumph of 70 years on the throne for Her Majesty.

After joining the other members of her family for the trooping of the colours ceremony on Thursday (June 2) and standing on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony, Princess Anne has departed for Scotland.

It is understood that she will be making journey's to several other locations around the city after their tour of the zoo.

Anne and her husband were due to visit everyone's favourite two-legged waddling creatures, before meeting some of the local children and taking part in an animal handling session.

Moving on from the zoo, the pair will then head down to Leith to board HMS Albion, which will be docked there for the next couple of days as the huge huge spectacle has made the special trip to the capital.

One of the UK's largest amphibious warships, the huge vessel will be welcoming the public on board on Saturday as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations for a look around.

Pictures from the zoo snap Anne and Timothy engaged in feeding the penguins in the sunshine as dozens of visitors line up to catch a glimpse.
