Prince William asked about Prince Harry's memoir Spare moments after arriving in North West

A difficult question was posed to Prince William about his brother Harry just moments after arriving in Liverpool for a Royal visit.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Merseyside today to visit the Royal Liverpool University Hospital this afternoon, which opened its doors in October 2022 after five years of delays and problems. Their visit will consist of a tour of the wards at the new hospital and will see them speak to staff to thank them for their service.

It is the Prince and Princess of Wales' first Royal visit since the release of Prince Harry's explosive memoir, Spare. The Royal Highnesses were questioned over the memoir minutes after their arrival at the Royal Liverpool Hospital this Thursday, the Echo reports.

As Prince William and Princess Kate walked over to greet staff outside the hospital, a reporter could be heard shouting: "Are you hurt by the comments in Harry's book sir?"

Prince William did not respond, although it is not clear if he heard the question. Princess Kate was seen wearing a dark dress under a double-breasted green and blue tartan coat, while Prince William wore a green jumper and a dark coloured blazer.

Another Royal visit is also taking place elsewhere in the UK today as King Charles visits Aboyne and Mid Deeside Community Shed in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Harry’s bombshell publication Spare – the fastest selling non-fiction book in history – sparked a furore over claims William physically attacked him, while his admission he killed 25 Taliban members during the Afghanistan war generated protests in Helmand province over the weekend.

The Queen Consort, described by the Duke of Sussex in interviews as “dangerous” and criticised for attempting to rehabilitate her “image” at his cost, suggested Harry become governor general of Bermuda to escape the “maelstrom” of press interest, the book claims.

It also reveals claims about the fractious relationship between the King and his heir the Prince of Wales, with Harry recounting how William while “way too upset” rang him to say: “Pa and Camilla’s people had planted a story or stories about him and Kate and the kids.”

A YouGov survey has found the popularity of Harry has fallen since his book was published, with 68% of 1,691 adults polled on Tuesday and Wednesday having a negative opinion about him while 24% thought positively of him.

The online research data group said the figures meant the duke had his lowest ever net favourability rating of minus 44, down from minus 38 last week, which had been his previous record low.
