Prince William and Princess Kate break big royal rule during Liverpool visit

Prince William and Princess Kate broke royal protocol during a visit to Liverpool on Thursday.

The Royals were given a tour of the new state-of-the-art hospital, where they met hardworking caregivers and thanked them for their ongoing efforts. During the visit, staff were overheard talking about how "kind" the Prince and Princess were.

They even broke a rule by posing for a selfie with healthcare assistant Anne O'Hara.

While it may seem like a nice thing to do, there is a royal protocol against having selfies with fans. The rule became publicly known after Meghan Markle admitted she was not allowed to take a selfie with a fan shortly after starting her relationship with Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex, in line with royal protocol, told one couple in December 2017: "We're not allowed to do selfies", according to the Mirror.

Younger royals, in recent years, have repeatedly engaged more with well-wishers and this is likely to become more common with King Charles now head of the Royal Family, the Express reports.
