Prince William and Kate Middleton's final touching 'goodbye' to Queen

Prince William and his wife, Kate, have said a final 'goodbye' to Queen Elizabeth.

The Prince and Princess of Wales took to Twitter to post a final, touching tribute in honour of Her Majesty. It comes following her State Funeral today, September 19.

The royals shared a a black and white image of the pallbearers carrying the Queen's coffin, draped in the Royal Standard and crown jewels. It was captioned: "Goodbye to a Queen, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother."

The family showed each other support for the final farewell today as Will and Kate's eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, joined them as they joined the funeral procession. Before the procession, nine-year-old George and Charlotte travelled to Westminster Abbey in the same car as the Queen Consort, with mum Kate arriving with them.

Kate was dressed in black, as is tradition, and wore a black veil on her hat. The mourning veils have been part of the Royal Family's tradition for years and are worn not only as a symbol of grief, but also offer the wearer more privacy.

The Princess of Wales paid a subtle tribute to the Queen with her choice of jewellery. According to The Court Jeweller, Lauren Kiehna, the Kate wore Bahrain pearl drop earrings and a Japanese pearl choker necklace both from the collection of the Queen.

The necklace is a four-stranded pearl choker necklace with a diamond clasp. The Queen received the pearls from the Hakim of Bahrain as a wedding gift in 1947.
