Prince Louis is no stranger to stealing the limelight at royal events and the cheeky five-year-old has once again lived up to his reputation at Trooping the Colour. As well as pulling faces like he did at last year’s event, this time he also gave crowds a respectful salute.
The royals gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the RAF flypast, which featured around 70 different aircraft, including the iconic Red Arrows, following a military ceremony at Horse Guards Parade. This year - King Charles III’s first birthday parade - it was a much slimmed down balcony appearance, The Mirror reports.
Only the working royals came out to greet the crowds, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales' three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis. And as they watched the formation of planes roar overhead, five-year-old Louis could be seen saluting the crowds as well as pulling a range of excitable faces.

One impressive moment of the flypast above Buckingham Palace was when 18 Typhoon fighter jets spelled out the King’s monogram, “CR” for Charles Rex. This particularly delighted Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, who was seen applauding the amazing feat.
Earlier in the day Charles became the first monarch in more than 30 years to take part in Trooping the Colour on horseback in what was his inaugural Birthday Parade. Charles took the royal salute as Colonel in Chief of the Household Division’s seven regiments during the ceremony, staged on Horse Guards Parade, as members of the royal family and 8,000 spectators watch.
He was joined on horseback by the royal colonels – the Prince of Wales, Colonel, Welsh Guards; the Princess Royal, Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel of The Blues and Royals; and the Duke of Edinburgh, riding for the first time in his role as Colonel of the 1st Battalion London Guards, formed last year.
Travelling in a carriage were the Queen, who is Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, and the Princess of Wales as Colonel of the Irish Guards, along with Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis.
As they prepared to leave Horse Guards, Kate appeared to tell Prince Louise to sit up as she fussed with his tie. Even BBC commentator Huw Edwards remarked that Kate was "tidying up" Louis before they headed back to the palace for the finale.
