Prince Louis shows off close bond with King Charles with cheeky joke about 'grandpa'

Prince Louis showed off his close bond with his grandfather, King Charles during his first public engagement with a cheeky joke

The five-year-old royal was involved in a building renovation project during the Big Help where he was given the task to help paint an outdoor planter with the 3rd Upton Scouts Hut in Slough.

As reported by the Mirror, he was splashed with some of the white paint in his hair during his hard work, but rather than expressing his annoyance at the accident, he seemed amused by his new hair colour as he hilariously added: “just like Grandpa.”

The adorable youngster joined his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales as well as his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte for the third day of the Coronation celebrations on May 8.

The Wales family all took part in the volunteering day out to assist in renovating and improving the building with Kate's presence being particularly important as the joint president of the Scouts since 2020.

After noticing the splash of white in her brother's hair, Charlotte exclaimed: "You've got paint in your hair! Louis, look at me! Look at me!"

The royals helped with tasks including resetting a path, digging a new soakaway, sanding and varnishing the front door, adding planters to the front of the building and adding a mural to create a lasting legacy of the Big Help Out's work.

Louis, who was wearing his trademark shorts, was seen sitting in William's lap as his father operated a digger and moved the mechanical arm to grab a bucket full of soil before dumping it on a spoil heap.

The five-year-old prince reportedly saw his big brother, George, nine, having a go and told his mother: ‘I want to go in with him!’.

The three young royals got to work straight away with the Scots as Charlotte and Louis helped to paint a planter while George joined his father to do some drilling.

After their hard graft, it was time for some fun with each sibling being given the opportunity to try their hand at archery.

Charlotte proved to be a natural as she impressively scored a bullseye first time with Little Louis, whose bow was the same size as him, also showed he has inherited his parent's sporting talents as he hit the target as well.

The young cheeky prince loved it so much that he kept running back to pick up his arrows and having another go, hitting the target several times.

George also several direct hits himself before having a mini competition with his mother and father.
