Prince Harry interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby will air on January 8 at 9pm
(Picture: ITV)King Charles III has maintained open communication with his son Prince Harry, a source has reportedly said, and is “deeply saddened” by the latest allegations facing him and the Royal family.
The Duke of Sussex told ITV’s Tom Bradby that he wanted “a family, not an institution” and “would like to get my father back” in a video promoting a full television interview to be aired on Sunday evening.
Prince Harry is promoting his memoir, titled Spare, that is set to be released on January 10. It is set to detail the breakdown of his relationship with his brother William, the Prince of Wales, and his father.
But a source close to the King reportedly told the Telegraph that the monarch has always made clear how much he loves both of his sons.
The King is understood to have remained in contact with Harry, meeting several times during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last June, the source said.
The Telegraph reported that several sources “have made clear in recent weeks” that the King would always welcome his son “back into his arms” and the Sussexes are invited to his coronation on May 6.
Prince Harry alleged that Buckingham Palace “leaked” and “planted” stories during his interview with ITV.
“It never needed to be this way,” he is filmed saying in the ITV teaser video.
“The leaking and the planting...I want a family. Not an institution. They feel, as though, it’s somehow better to keep us as the villians,” he explained.
“They’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile. I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.”
In his interview with CBS’ Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes, the Duke of Sussex claimed that he tried to settle his feud with his brother privately, “but there have been “briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife”.
The interview will also air on January 8 in the United States. Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on teaser videos for both ITV and CBS interviews.
