When is Prince Harry’s Spare being released in the UK?
The Duke of Sussex’s book, Spare, will be released in the UK on January 10 2023. It is published by Penguin Random House.
It is available for pre-order now from most booksellers, with an RRP of £28. Random House says that the Duke wished to support charities close to his heart with the release.
The Duke has donated $1.5 million (£1.2million) to Sentebale, an organisation founded by the Prince alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. Sentebale aims to support vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana affected by HIV/AIDS.
He will also donate $300,000 to the non-profit organisation, WellChild. Harry has been a patron of the charity, which makes it possible for children and young people with complex health needs to be cared for at home instead of in a hospital where possible, for many years.
What will Prince Harry’s Spare be about?
While the specific contents are under wraps, it is expected that the Prince will further address his decision to step away from his role in the Royal Family alongside his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
It is also claimed that the Duke will talk about his time in the Army as well as his memories of growing up in the Royal Family. He will also share the memories he has of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
Random House describes the book as “a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief”.
It says: “It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow - and horror. As Diana, Princess of Wales was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on. For Harry, this is that story at last.”
