Prince Harry's memoir will 'never see light of day' because there'll be 'no way back'

Prince Harry 's memoir "won't see the light of day" because it will destroy any chance he has of re-connecting with the Royal Family, an expert claimed.

The Duke of Sussex's bombshell new book was due to be released before the end of the year but could now be postponed until 2023 following the death of the Queen.

He wrote it as part of a near £40million three-title deal with Penguin Random House, and reportedly asked for some significant alterations following the passing of his grandmother.

It is understood these include a new chapter about the late monarch's death and the lead-up to her funeral.

The publishers are said to have previously ordered a rewrite after Harry's first draft was deemed to focus too heavily on mental health.

And had reportedly hoped the book could be out in time for Thanksgiving in the US on November 24.

Palace aides, on the other hand, are said to be keen to have the book axed completely, fearing it will contain uncomfortable revelations.

Harry's relationship with his family has been frayed in and around Megxit, which saw him and wife Meghan step down as working royals in March 2020 before making damaging allegations against the Firm.

Royal biographer Tina Brown, author of The Diana Chronicles and The Palace Papers, does not think the contentious biography will ever be released, according to the Telegraph.

"They are now in this bind, where they've taken all this money and Harry has made this book deal where he's supposed to spill everything about his horrible life as a royal, but now he's actually tortured about it because he understands there is no way back if he does it," she said.

"If the book continues, I don't think there is any way for Harry to return. So my view has always been that the book won't see the light of day."

A source told the Daily Mail Harry has "thrown a spanner in the works" by trying to make alterations of his own following the Queen's death and his father Charles taking the throne.

"There may be things in the book which might not look so good if they come out so soon after these events," they said.

"He wants sections changed now. It's not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late."

Another insider, close to the King, added: "The question inside the Palace is: 'Can the book be stopped?'"

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 41, who settled in Montecito, California, in July 2020, are also working on a documentary as part of their $100million deal with Netflix.

It was expected to be aired in December but the couple reportedly wanted to make edits and so it could be pushed back into next year.
