Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are heading back Down Under, seven years after they first visited Australia as fresh-faced newlyweds on their headline-making royal tour — and yes, the timing is interesting (for several reasons).
As reported by news.com.au, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed on Sunday that the Duke and Duchess “will visit Australia in mid-April to take part in a number of private, business and philanthropic engagements”, adding that “further details will be shared in due course”.
It comes after a source told the publication that the Sussexes are planning stops in both Sydney and Melbourne next month, meaning Aussie fans (and, let’s be honest, the tabloids) should probably start preparing for another round of Sussex mania.
While their last visit to our shores was an official royal tour back when they were still working members of the Firm, this time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be travelling as private citizens, meaning fewer palace protocols and, potentially, a lot more freedom with their schedule.

And Meghan might already have a gig lined up!
There’s chatter that while she’s in Australia, the Duchess could pop up on the Her Best Life podcast, originally launched by Jackie O Henderson and Gemma O’Neill through their Besties media company. Now, will Jackie be hosting the pod? That is yet to be determined, but lord knows Jackie has all the time in the world for hosting duties after recent events!
Kinda wild that the controversial public figure might be sitting down with Jackie O as she, too, is embroiled in a scandal of her own.
Meghan is also rumoured to appear as a special guest at an upcoming Besties event, following in the very glossy footsteps of previous VIP speaker Gwyneth Paltrow — whom Meghan was rumoured to have beef with, until the gals publicly squashed it on Insta.
The Hollywood star previously sat down for a wide-ranging onstage chat with Jackie O back in 2023, drawing a crowd of roughly 3,000 fans to the International Convention & Exhibition Centre Sydney. If the rumours are true, Meghan Markle could be stepping into a very similar spotlight while she’s in town.
As for the couple’s broader plans, the full itinerary is expected to drop in the coming weeks. But it wouldn’t be surprising if Prince Harry spends part of the trip connecting with Australia’s defence or veterans’ community, given his long-standing ties to both.
It’s also understood Prince Harry has built up a solid network of Aussie mates over the years, thanks to multiple trips here — including the month he spent embedded with the Australian Defence Force at an army barracks in Darwin back in 2015.

Harry has long been open about his soft spot for Australia, too. In his 2023 memoir Spare, the royal-turned-Californian reminisced about living here as a 19-year-old in 2003, describing his stint working as a jackaroo — essentially a farmer-in-training — on a rural Queensland property as a time that brought him a rare sense of calm. According to Harry, those weeks ended up being “some of the best” of his life.
What remains unclear, however, is whether the Sussex kids will make the trip. It’s not yet known if Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, will tag along next month or stay back at the family’s home base in Montecito.
It comes just after it was revealed that Netflix had ended its partnership with the former Suits actress, with Meghan now taking “complete control” of her business.
