Prince Harry laughed at Elvis' Graceland décor and says interior designer 'must have been on acid'

Prince Harry speaks a lot about his travels in his new memoir Spare and in one chapter, he speaks about visiting the home of Elvis Presley.

The Duke of Sussex travelled to Graceland, Elvis' Tennessee estate, while on a trip to America to attend the wedding of his and Prince William's close pal Guy Pelly to Holiday Inn heiress Lizzy Wilson, writes The Mirror.

The wedding party travelled to Miami for Guy's stag party and en route back, they decided to stop in Tennessee ahead of the wedding to visit Graceland.

Photographs which were taken at the time show Harry touring the estate alongside his brother William and their cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Harry recalls the trip in his memoir and appears to scoff at the estate, which is now a major tourist attraction and said it reminded him of his "badger sett" - a lower ground floor flat he previously lived in at Kensington Palace.

In Spare, he writes: "People variously called the house a castle, a mansion, a palace, but it reminded me of the badger sett. Dark, claustrophobic. I walked around saying: The King lived here, you say? Really?

"I stood in one tiny room with loud furniture and shag carpet and thought: The King’s interior designer must’ve been on acid."

The Hound Dog singer lived at Graceland after buying the estate in 1957 until his death in August 1977. He is also buried in the grounds of the property.

A memorial service was held at Graceland following the death of Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie, who passed away aged 54 earlier this month.

Harry's aunt Sarah Ferguson was among those giving a touching eulogy to Lisa Marie as the pair were friends.

And in her moving speech, Sarah mentioned her late mother-in-law the Queen and referenced her words on grief.

She said: "My late mother-in-law used to say that nothing can be said – can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments because grief is the price we pay for love and how right she was."

Sarah also spoke about her and Lisa Marie's lovely bond. She added: "I stand here with great honour because we called each other sissy. I've been with you all for all your lives."

Earlier this month, Lisa's mum, Priscilla Presley, broke the news that her daughter had passed away.

"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," she said in a statement.
