Prince Harry felt like a "gooseberry" working with the Prince and Princess of Wales - and friends of the brothers fear they'll never reunite.
Prince William is believed not to be watching the Netflix documentary about Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan Markle.
The siblings' relationship has deteriorated in recent years, following Meghan's official complaint of bullying and differences of opinion over commercial work, and the Sussexes moved to their own office under the umbrella of Buckingham Palace before they eventually left the country for the USA.
Now, one of Prince William's long-standing allies has claimed it is unlikely the relationship will be repaired.
"Everyone thought they needed to get back together," they told Daily Telegraph. "Now I don’t think there’s anyone who really believes that’s possible. Working together will never happen."
Another said: "Life is long. Miracles happen."
Prior to meeting Meghan, it is claimed Harry felt like a "gooseberry" made to tag along with William and Kate, whom married in 2011.
The trio each received equal credit for their work on the Heads Together mental health project.
They were snapped at project events by the media but Harry, at this point, had become fed up of tagging along with his brother and Kate.
Hannah Furness, journalist with Telegraph, says "privately, Prince Harry was saying that he felt like a ‘gooseberry’ made to tag along with the couple" before he met Meghan.
A royal source told the publication: "It’s fair to say her arrival changed things."
Although Harry did not drop any bombshells on his family in the first three episodes of his Netflix show 'Harry & Meghan', a further three are still to be released.
It comes after the 38-year-old said royal men, except himself, tended to marry women who “fit the mould” rather than for true love.
Meghan, meanwhile, spoke sympathetically in the documentaries about a small communications team shared between the Cambridges and Sussexes, trying to deal with ever-expanding media fall-out.
The 41-year-old woman also previously told ITN reporter Tom Bradby "not many people ask if I’m ok" in a telling interview.
