Prince Harry fans are convinced the former working royal made a subtle, clever dig towards his step-mother during his ITV interview this evening.
Viewers watching the explosive special took to social media to discuss whether Harry had carefully chosen his words at one point - spotting a bit of possible shade thrown Camilla, Queen Consort's way.
Harry: The Interview aired on ITV this evening, with the Duke of Sussex, 38, going into unprecedented depth and detail on life in and out of the royal family.
In addition to discussing how he lost his virginity to an older woman and how he sees his late mother Princess Diana in his dreams, Harry addressed Jeremy Clarkson's unhinged comments about Meghan Markle.
The former Top Gear presenter, 62, wrote in The Sun last month how he hates the former Suits actress "on a cellular level" and wants her to be "paraded naked through the streets".
Clarkson explained in his now-deleted newspaper column how he "dreams of people throwing lumps of excrement at her" in the insensitive spew of hatred towards Meghan – who he has never met.
The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? presenter attended an event the Queen Consort was present at just days before the controversial column was published in print and online.
"When we're talking about accountability, you know, just recently, which I know you know about, um you know, the Jeremy Clarkson article," Harry began when discussing the hate-filled piece with Tom during their interview.
"So not only did, what he said was horrific and is hurtful and cruel towards my wife, but it also encourages other people around the UK and around the world, men particularly, to go and think that it's acceptable to treat women that way.
He then added: "You know, to use my stepmother’s words recently as well, there is a global pandemic of violent – violence against women."
In November last year, Camilla spoke at a Buckingham Palace event highlighting the threat of domestic abuse and violence against women and called for an end to these "heinous crimes".
The wife of King Charles came under fire for hosting Clarkson at at royal Christmas lunch in December prior to the controversial presenter penning his rant aimed at Meghan.
After Harry used his step-mother's words to condemn Clarkson during his ITV interview, many took to social media to point out the perhaps intentional subtle irony.
"Talking about the Jeremy Clarkson article and quoting Camilla the side ho in one smooth sentence made me howl! #PrinceHarryInterview," one Twitter user mused.
"Linking Camilla and Jeremy Clarkson was something I wasn’t ready for. Harry is too smart and intelligent," another added, as a third quipped: "In the words of my stepmother there is a global pandemic of violence against women’ Harry using Camilla’s words against her in relation to silence over Jeremy Clarkson. Checkmate tbh."
Another Twitter user wrote: "Loving the subtle shade in Prince Harry's ITV interview. Referencing the vile Clarkson article then quoting the wicked stepmother Camilla. We see you Harry."
On Christmas Eve spokeswoman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued a statement to the Press Association after The Sun apologised for Clarkson's column and claimed they regret ever publishing the piece.
The statement read: The fact that the Sun has not contacted The Duchess of Sussex to apologise shows their intent.
"This is nothing more than a PR stunt. While the public absolutely deserves the publication’s regrets for their dangerous comments, we wouldn’t be in this situation if The Sun did not continue to profit off of and exploit hate, violence and misogyny.
"A true apology would be a shift in their coverage and ethical standards for all.
"Unfortunately, we’re not holding our breath."
Clarkson is yet to publicly apologise to Meghan.
