Prince Harry may not be welcome at his father King Charles' coronation in May due to fears among the royal family that he will use private conversations in the paperback edition of his book, it has been reported. The Prince's memoir, Spare, has caused uproar due to the level of detail included.
Harry has made many claims about the family in the book, which was released earlier this week. It includes an allegation that his brother Prince William physically attacked him.
It is now being reported that Harry could be barred from the historic event in May as a result, according to the Mirror. Senior members of the family are reportedly concerned that he may look to include the details of conversations with his closest family in later editions of the title.
A source told the Sun: “There have been discussions among the family, including Edward and Anne. They do not want private conversations at the Coronation making it into the paperback edition of Spare.”
Charles III’s coronation is set to take place on Saturday, May 6, in London, which will be eight months after his ascension to the throne. A bank holiday in celebration is set to be held across the UK on Monday, May 8.
The King and Prince William are currently said to putting on a united front amid the controversy surrounding Prince Harry 's autobiography. The monarch and the Prince and Princess of Wales have told aides it is “business as usual” and will visit communities across the UK on Thursday.
The King will today attend a community group close to his Scottish home, Balmoral, while William and Princess Kate are due at a community engagement in the north of England. Sources said the senior royals would not be reacting to Prince Harry’s tell-all book, as he continues on a promotional TV tour in the US.
