Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'struggle' for deals shows the 'state of Hollywood'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced a number of tough times in business recently after learning that their Spotify deal is not going to be continued.

The huge deal lasted just 12 episodes, with podcast Archetypes not being renewed by the streaming giants after just one year.

Meghan has also seen a potential deal with Dior bite the dust, with reports claiming there isn't likely to be a contract on the table for the former Suits star.

And the duo are said to have been told to come up with a number of new ideas in order to fulfil their contract with Netflix following their hit docu-series about their life.

Potential Netflix shows include a Great Expectations-inspired show titled Bad Manners. It's said the production will be based on Charles Dickens' character Miss Havisham and the prequel will recast the lonely spinster as a strong woman who is living in a patriarchal society.

Meghan and Harry's struggles to land new deals are said to be showing the state of Hollywood at the moment, with such deals in the past easier to come by for those with such a huge profile to offer as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have.

And it's anticipated that the struggles are only going to get worse for some of the biggest names in Hollywood next year.

YouTube’s former global head of original content, and now teacher at UCLA, Susanne Daniels, told the LA Times: "I do think these deals are going to be fewer and farther apart because there’s a lot of belt-tightening right now."

She estimated that new so-called overall deals will drop "significantly" next year.

The claim comes after a PR expert told the Mirror of the difficulties Meghan and Harry might find when pursuing new deals.

Chad Teixeira said the pair might discover brands are "hesitant" to create a partnership, saying: "Given the recent setbacks with Spotify and Dior, it is likely that Meghan will be considering her next steps carefully.

"Her reputation precedes her, and with her credible status, she holds the potential to partner with large brands. However, these recent snubs may create hesitation among potential partners."

Chad continued: "It is important that her next move be strategic and aligned with her core values and personal brand, which will not only help her navigate potential partnerships but also resonate with her audience."
