Prince George and Princess Charlotte were spotted arriving at Westminster Abbey to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II today. Their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly stepped in and pushed forward their wishes for their children to have a chance to say farewell to their great grandmother.
George, 8 and Charlotte, 7 will say goodbye to their adored ''Gan-Gan'', Birmingham Mail reports. The Prince and Princess of Wales were eager for their kids to be in attendance of the historic event this morning.
The youngsters were seen walking behind their parents and in front of their aunt and uncle, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The Queen's lying in state period came to an end at 6.30am this morning in Westminster Hall.
Her coffin was taken in a grand military procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey for the funeral at 11am. The Queen's final resting place will be the King George VI memorial chapel, an annex to the main chapel where her mother and father were buried, along with the ashes of her sister, Princess Margaret.
Philip's coffin will move from the royal vault to the memorial chapel to join the Queen's. There will be a private burial for Her Majesty, with the family looking on, this evening. The state funeral was declared a bank holiday last week, by King Charles III, at his proclamation 48 hours after Her Majesty died aged 96 at Balmoral in Scotland.
