Prince Andrew could have holiday home taken away by King Charles after Windsor eviction 'refusal'

Prince Andrew may have his holiday home taken away from him by King Charles if he continues to refuse to leave his Windsor mansion.

The Duke of York usually enjoys a summer getaway at Balmoral but the monarch has reportedly decided to keep the royal residence open to the public for another two weeks.

The decision is said to have been made in an attempt to bring in extra revenue but a source has claimed that Andrew would likely have his holiday plans disrupted as a result.

This year, Balmoral will remain open to the public daily until August 16 while the King is expected to take his summer break to the Birkhall which is home on the Balmoral Estate while he waits for the castle to close to tourists.

However, the extra public dates could mean Prince Andrew may not get a chance to visit the rural getaway at all, the Mirror reports.

According to Richard Eden for the Daily Mail, the extra dates will "bring significant new revenue into the estate" but says "it may, however, have the effect of annoying the Duke of York, who has treasured his time in Royal Deeside ever since he was a little boy".

It comes after rumours that King Charles had plans to evict his younger brother Prince Andrew from his Royal Lodge home in Windsor.

However, sources say the Duke of York will be allowed to remain in the property while his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson who also lives there is recovering from breast cancer surgery.

The 64-year-old mother of two underwent a gruelling eight-hour mastectomy to eliminate the cancer, and is now recovering from the major surgery.

Andrew's alleged battle to stay in the Lodge has been ongoing for months with reports he had disobeyed the King's orders and refused to leave.

Andrew's annual £250k allowance is also said to have been slashed meaning he won't be able to afford the essential renovations that the Lodge badly needs done.

The Duke of York who has lived in the Lodge for twenty years is said to have a 70-year lease on the home and sources claim the King has informed him he'll have to fund the work out of his own pocket.

Uncertainty over the divorcees' ability to stay at the home for now has been put on a back burner according to royal insiders Page Six reports.

News of Fergie's breast cancer treatment emerged last month as it was revealed that doctors had spotted it while carrying out a routine mammogram.

Sarah was discharged from King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, on Sunday last weekend after the successful operation, as representatives said her experience "underlines the importance of regular screening".

A spokesman for the Duchess said: "Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening.

"She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully."
