
Prince William and Princess Kate appeared solemn as they visited the memorial to the mining disaster that killed 144 people in the Welsh village of Aberfan.
Crowds of well-wishers lined the streets as the Prince and Princess of Wales visited the memorial garden on the site of the 1966 disaster which saw 116 children killed when a colliery spoil tip collapsed and sent tonnes of ash slurry onto the village below.
