The Prince and Princess of Wales are searching for a chief executive officer to run their royal household who is “emotionally intelligent” and with “low ego”.
William and Kate have taken on the responsibilities of heir to the throne and his wife since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and now are looking for an executive to develop and implement their long-term strategy.
Traditionally a master of the household, the official – usually with a military background as an ex-senior officer – would run the office of a senior member of the royal family.
But the couple have opted for a more modern approach, with the CEO reporting directly to them.
Recruitment firm Odgers Berndtson has been instructed to find the best candidate.
The online advert states: “The CEO is the most senior and accountable leader for the Household, reporting directly to TRHs The Prince and Princess of Wales.
“They will be responsible for the development and implementation of TRH’s long-term strategy and continuing to strengthen a professional and collaborative Household culture.”
Under the “skills and attributes” needed by the successful candidate, the advert states: “An inspiring internal champion, who will energise others with positivity, enthusiasm, and ambition.
“Emotionally intelligent, with ‘low ego,’ and strong self-awareness and understanding of their impact on others.”
