Prime Video top 10 movies — here's the 3 I'd stream this week (Jan. 12-18)

Prime Video logo on glowing background.

Planning a Prime Video movie night this week? Like all the best streaming services, Amazon's streamer is home to a ton of great watches, and that library's regularly bolstered with new shows and movies — but only a handful of those releases manage to make it into the Prime Video charts.

If you rely on the Prime Video top 10 movies list to help you choose your next watch from that massive library of titles, there's always a chance that you might not strike gold. After all, something can be popular on Prime even if it's not necessarily watchlist-worthy. That's where I come in.

Each week, I check what's trending on Prime Video and highlight what I think are the three best films in Prime Video's top 10 movies list. That way, you've always got a quick list of Prime Video streaming recommendations ready to go.

Read on to find my top three Prime Video recommendations, as well as a complete breakdown of everything that's currently in the Prime Video top 10 movies list.

Note: This article is based on what was in the Prime Video top 10 in the U.S. as of Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.

Best movies in Prime Video's top 10

'Sinners (2025)

If you've not already watched Ryan Coogler's electrifying vampiric horror-thriller, stop what you're doing and go stream it on Prime Video, pronto. You've no doubt heard of "Sinners" at some point; it's easily one of the most talked-about movies of 2025, was lauded by critics and viewers alike, and has been a top watch on Prime since its arrival on Dec. 26. It also just bagged two wins at the 2026 Golden Globes.

The movie centers on two twin brothers, Smoke and Stack (both played by Michael B. Jordan), who leave their troubled lives behind and head back to their Mississippi hometown to open a juke joint... only to discover that there are terrible evils waiting on the doorstep to welcome them back.

"Sinners" is a truly gripping watch from the "Black Panther" director, packed with spectacle, amazing songs and action, and brilliant performances from Jordan and the rest of the ensemble. Don't miss it.

'The Naked Gun' (2025)

If you're looking for a laugh, and you have a sense of humor primed for silliness and throwaway gags, then I'd wager you're going to enjoy Akiva Schaffer's "The Naked Gun" sequel. This action-comedy follow-up to the iconic Leslie Nielsen trilogy hit the big screen last summer and had me in stitches every time I've watched it since (there's a reason I branded it the funniest movie of 2025 when "The Naked Gun" arrived on the streamer).

"The Naked Gun" sees Frank Drebin's son, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (a brilliant comic turn from "Taken" frontman, Liam Neeson), following in his father's footsteps. He's also signed up with Police Squad, and after landing himself in hot water following a thwarted bank robbery, Drebin has to put his particular set of skills to work on a deadly new case that has implications for the future of Police Squad and the entire world.

'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'

There's a ton of family movies in Prime Video's top 10 list right now, and if you're searching for something to keep viewers of all ages entertained this week, I'd argue "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is the best of the bunch. This colorful animated video game adaptation came from Nintendo and "Illumination" and was a box office smash back in 2023, and it's been a Prime Video top 10 regular, too. Plus, with the sequel coming up in just a couple of months, now's a great time to revisit the first film.

In "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," we follow Brooklyn-based plumbers Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) on an adventure across the Mushroom Kingdom after the pair slip down a Warp Pipe. Separated from his brother during the journey, Mario scrambles to find his missing, green-capped pal and ends up crossing paths with Toads, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), and the villainous Bowser (Jack Black) in the process.
