Prime Gaming March 2023: you'll never guess what you play as in I Am Fish

Amazon’s Prime Gaming has shown off its free games lineup for March with classic RPG Baldur's Gate up for grabs alongside physics based adventure, I Am Fish.

Prime Gaming is offering seven free titles this month, starting on Thursday, March 2, with one or two releasing each week until March 30. This month's lineup takes you all over, from the Arctic to the Western Heartlands, a fish tank, the demon infested Paperverse and – the scariest place of all – Birmingham.

Leading the pack as the first free game this month is Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition which joins Prime Gaming on Thursday, March, 2. Set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting of the Dungeons and Dragons universe, Baldur’s Gate is the second game to come from Mass Effect and Dragon Age developer Bioware.

The original picked up plenty of Game of the Year awards in 1998, which, when you consider that was the year that brought us Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Half-Life, and Resident Evil 2 and countless other bangers, is high praise indeed. The Enhanced Edition brings the game more in line with modern tastes, while retaining what made the original such a classic.

A fitting pair arrives on March 9, with Adios, and I Am Fish; you take on the role of a pig farmer coming to grips with guilt and his own mortality, and a fish, respectively. Adios is described as a “cinematic first-person game about sticking to a complicated decision”. That decision being that you no longer want to dispose of bodies for the mafia. I won’t say much more as the story is the main focus here but that's enough to tantalise you.

Meanwhile, I Am Fish puts you in the fins of a fish as you attempt to escape captivity and flee to the ocean. This physics-based adventure comes from Bossa Studios; the developer of Indie hit I Am Bread, in which you play as a piece of bread. You may notice a theme developing here...

March 16 brings Faraway 3: Arctic Escape to Prime Gaming members. As the name suggests, it’s the third game in the Faraway series, a set of first-person adventure games which pay homage to the PC classic Myst. One week later on March 23, comes Book of Demons, and Peaky Blinders: Mastermind. Book of Demons is a deck-building hack-and-slash known for its unique papercraft art style.

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is a puzzle game based on the TV show that has you control key characters from the series as you plan and pull off a variety of flat cap-laden schemes. Finally on March 30 is City Legends: Trapped in Mirror – Collector’s Edition which sees you assume the role of an author who messes about with Bloody Mary herself and now has to survive encounters with the ghost by solving puzzles and investigation.
