PUNE: Primary schools in the district would be fully functional from Monday, said deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, also the guardian minister of Pune.
The decision had been taken after reviewing the Covid-19 cases over the week, said Ajit Pawar, after his weekly Covid review meeting with the district administration on Saturday.
The district’s primary schools were functioning for half the working day this week.
The official order issued by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) mentions that classes for Standard I to VIII students can be conducted full-time. It also states that coaching classes and other such training hubs can remain open with 50% capacity, but it is mandatory for their teachers and other staffers to be fully vaccinated (two doses) against Covid-19.
Schools and colleges have been reopened physically in the Pune district since February 1. But students of Standard I to VIII were attending classes for half the working day. The others could function for regular hours. The latest guidelines make it possible for primary schools to function fully.
