Primark shoppers can't decide on new £7 t-shirt range for older women

Primark fans have left divided as the popular budget fashion retailer has introduced a brand new t-shirt range for older women. The shirts come in at a starting price of £7 and go up to £12, with the collection featuring 14 new items, as reported by the MEN.

The range includes items which are described by the retailer as "breathable menopause nightwear and lingerie" and is targeted at older woman and those are going through menopause and other such health conditions.

It consists of a variety of clothing, including: anti-chafing shorts, nightdresses, leggings, pyjamas, bralettes, camis, t-shirts and a slip dress. All 14 items have been created out of recycled nylon and recycled polyester. The retailer has hailed it as 'Anti-Flush technology' and is purposely built for hot flushes and night sweats to help women experiencing the menopause to feel cooler.

A statement about the range on the Primark website reads: "Wave goodbye to tight, irritating and stuffy nightwear and say a much-welcomed 'hello' to breezy, stretchy and super breathable menopause nightwear and lingerie! Hot flushes at night? Our breathable lingerie will help you stay nice and dry no matter the weather or hot sweats! Is your skin feeling extra sensitive? Our plush super-soft nightwear for menopause range includes comfy pyjama sets, breezy nightdresses and stylish chemises that will lull you to sleep in no time!"

The range was first launched back in September and since then it has received praise from shoppers, many of whom have called it "fantastic". However, more recently one woman took to TikTok under the username @Bobishields to post about the range, captioning her video: "I don't know whether it's brilliant or offensive... I mean, my mum would laugh her head off at this!"

But many were quick to jump to the defence of the collection in the comment section. User @EmmieMP said: "I would be delighted! Peri menopause heat is no joke so I imagine full menopause flushes are awful! Thank god the world is changing to accommodate us."

@NicOlarenshaw5 added: "Brilliant! so glad that this is a thing! Ty for showing us." @HannahDaisy told others: "I bought three. They’re amazing! I’m not even in the menopause but can’t control my body temperature!"

@Betty&TillyPatterdales admitted: "I wouldn’t be offended if someone got me one. I’m up for any help." @DawnSheehan said: "I would be absolutely delighted to receive this. Going the menopause has to be THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER TAKE IT FROM ME."

Mother added: "Menopause is just a part of life why you acting like it’s taboo." Primark's official TikTok account even commented: "Feeling cool, comfortable and confident."

The TikToker later posted a video about her Primark clip in response to a commenter, writing: "Replying to @emmamp40 I didn't intend to harm anybody currently suffering from or going through the Menopause. I didn't think about how it may come across when posting the video. I didn't intend to unnormalise, embarrass or create stigma and taboo around this subject. I used my sense of humour and my mum's current journey with Menopause to make a light-hearted joke that she actually found quite funny. To everyone that this video has helped, I'm glad #menopause #menopausejourney #humour #noducksgiven #gutterroyals."
