Primark explains why shoppers have found sausage rolls stuffed inside clothing

It is definitely a strange one, but over the weekend, Primark shoppers discovered sausage rolls and steak bakes stuffed inside clothes in store.

Eagle eyed shoppers spotted savoury treats poking out of bags in Primark as well as from pockets in clothes.

They soon took to social media to share stories and theories about what was going on.

Many people believed that the stunt could be to mark a collaboration between Greggs and Primark, and now that theory has been confirmed as well as revealing a number of Greggs inspired design additions to some stores.

As images of pastry filled fashion spread, and the news was reported by Manchester Evening News, Twitter users also began to voice their thoughts.

One person wrote: "So @GreggsOfficial is doing a range with @Primark which explains the sausage rolls and pasties on display in Primark's windows in town! Get in. I need me some Greggs drip. Represent greatness."

Another tweeted: "Very on brand for a Primark in Northern England to feature mannequins with Greggs sausage rolls in their bags."

And a third said: "Absolutely cannot wait to gan to Primark to get the new Greggs hoodies and that, be styling them walking to get me coffee on a morning."

And it was the same story across the country.

One Twitter user asked: "Erm, why are there sausage rolls and pasties in the windows of Primark on Oxford Street?"

Those is Birmingham were also sharing the news that a 130-seater café will open its doors in Primark’s Birmingham store on Saturday, February 12, at 8.00am.

One person posted on social media: "The worlds biggest Greggs in the world's biggest Primark. Birmingham will simply never top this."

However, not everyone was so convinced.

One tweet read: "Greggs x Primark is not the collab we needed."

While another said: "A Greggs x Primark collab is something I didn't expect to see this year."

And a third wrote: "I'm really worried about this joint venture between Primark and Greggs as I like both. But how are they going to stop the smell of bacon and sausage rolls infusing into the clothes."

The Birmingham 'Tasty by Greggs’ cafe will include a range of design features that the store says will "deliver customers with the ultimate Greggs experience". From relaxing in doughnut inspired seating area, spotting flying Vegan Sausage Rolls, taking snaps for social media on a Sugar Strand Doughnut Swing or simply enjoying a shopping break in the Greggs picnic area.

This flagship Midland's store already has a Smokey Barbers, the Primark Beauty Studio and Disney Café alongside extensive fashion and homeware ranges.

And for those who can’t get to Birmingham there’s still a chance to pick up a piece of the action as Greggs and Primark will be launching a limited-edition, 11-piece clothing collection available in 60 Primark stores across the UK from Saturday, February 19.

Raymond Reynolds, Business Development Director at Greggs said: “Greggs clothing is something our customers have continually asked for, so it’s great that together with Primark we can now make our first official range available across the UK - so that fans can quite literally show their love for Greggs on their sleeves. We’ve got some great pieces that we can’t wait to share."

Tim Kelly, director of New Business Development at Primark added: “We want to give our customers incredible experiences in our stores and offer collections they can’t find anywhere else, with brands we know they love. We’re thrilled to have teamed up with Greggs to bring the Tasty Café to our Birmingham store and give fans of the brand the chance to get their hands on the limited-edition clothing range.”
