Forget the Baftas and the Brits, when it comes to awards ceremonies, Pride of Scotland is the hottest ticket in town.
The countdown is now on to our glittering star-studded People’s Oscars, which will take place at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms tomorrow night.
The Daily Record Pride of Scotland Awards, in partnership with TSB, will honour the nation’s unsung heroes - ordinary people quietly living extraordinary lives and making a difference in their communities.
From humbling acts of kindness and selfless acts of bravery to raising millions for charity, our country is packed to the rafters with incredible folk who have done amazing things that deserve to be celebrated.
And tomorrow we will be doing just that with a red-carpet extravaganza which will see some of the world’s biggest stars pay tribute to our worthy winners.
Hosted by Elaine C Smith and Sanjeev Kohli, the awards will be attended by a host of stars including The Mummy’s John Hannah, Eastenders’ Laurie Brett, Holby City’s Joe McFadden, Still Game’s Gavin Mitchell and Greg Hemphill and Emmerdale’s Natalie Robb, who will all pay special tribute to our 10 people’s champions.
Also honouring our local heroes will be Bridgerton actress Ruby Barker, Love Island’s Paige Turley, Finn Tapp and Laura Anderson and Scotland’s Home of the Year judge Anna Campbell Jones.
A Place in the Sun’s Danni Menzies, STV newsreader Kelly Ann Woodland and singers Lulu, Nathan Evans and Nina Nesbitt are also on the guest list as are Rangers’ legends Allan McGregor and Leon King and basketball superstar Kieron Achara.
The spectacular will also feature appearances by funky Scots pop rock band Saint Phnx and a host of surprises for the worthy winners.
Last year, our inaugural in person awards night was packed with smiles, spectacular surprises, tears of joy, emotional moments and stunning reunions, and this year’s event is promising to be just as memorable.
We launched our search for our local heroes of 2022 back in February and were inundated with thousands of nominations from across the nation.
Categories include Emergency Services Hero, Child of Courage, Lifetime Achievement, TSB Community Hero, Princes Trust Young Achiever, Special Recognition.
All of our phenomenal winners will be revealed in tomorrow’s Record, so not much longer to wait now.
Elaine C Smith said: “It is an honour to host Pride of Scotland again and shine a light on unsung heroes from across this great nation. These heroes rarely seek attention, yet what they do changes and transforms the lives of others - whether that’s in one simple act or in a lifetime’s work. It’s going to be a magical evening and I’ve got my tissues at the ready as there is going to be a whole lot of greetin’ going on.”
Sanjeev Kohli added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be presenting the Pride of Scotland Awards with Elaine. I always love the opportunity to shine a light on people who genuinely deserve it, and there is no better place for that than Pride of Scotland. I can’t wait to meet the winners.”

The Daily Record Pride of Scotland Awards, in partnership with TSB, will broadcast on STV in July.
