PUNE: Inspector Chandrakant Gundade from the Police Training Centre at Nanveej in Daund has been honoured with the prestigious President’s police medal for distinguished services.
Deputy superintendent of police (wireless) Sitaram Jadhav, sub-inspectors Prakash Chaudhary, Vijay Bhong, Pandurang Wanjale (all from Pune City) and Kashinath Ubhe from ATS, Pune, have been honoured with the President’s police medal for meritorious services.
Pune fire brigade’s chief fire officer, Prashant Ranpise, has been honoured with the President’s fire service medal for distinguished services. Kiran Gawade, the chief fire officer of the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade, and fireman Chandrakant Anandas have been honoured with the President’s fire service medal for meritorious services.
“I am grateful to the principal of the Police Training Centre at Nanveej, my senior officers and subordinates for the award,” Gundage said.
Sub-inspector Prakash Chaudhary had joined the force as a constable in 1987 and has so far received 239 rewards, including the DG’s insignia. Assistant sub-inspector Vijay Bhong had joined the police force in 1990 and so far earned 222 rewards, including the DG’s insignia.
Assistant sub-inspector Pandurang Wanjale of the anti-extortion squad of the Pune crime branch has got 270 rewards. Assistant sub-inspector Kashinath Ubhe of ATS, Pune, had joined the force in 1990 and has 230 awards.
Ranpise had joined the fire brigade in 1987. “I had got the President’s fire service medal in 2010. Now, I have been honoured with the fire service medal for distinguished services. This credit is our entire fire brigade,” he said.
Gawade, the chief fire officer of the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade, said, “I have put efforts towards the safety and security of the citizens despite our limited manpower and resources.” Fireman Anandas joined the Pune fire brigade in 1996 and earned several rewards from the PMC.
