Senator Chris Coons, a co-chair of the Biden-Harris campaign, revealed on Monday that President Joe Biden sought his advice on how to address concerns among senators who have reservations about his leadership on the ticket. Coons shared that Biden directly contacted him to inquire about which senators he should engage with and what steps he should take to alleviate any doubts.
Coons emphasized that there is a consistent message of apprehension within the Democratic caucus, with senators expressing the need for more direct interaction with the President. He stated, 'It’s been a pretty consistent message across the senators I’ve spoken to - ‘We need to see you, Mr. President.’
To address these concerns, Biden has been actively participating in various public events. This includes recent campaign engagements, a notable interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, and an upcoming press conference scheduled during the NATO summit on Thursday. These efforts are aimed at reassuring both senators and voters about Biden's commitment and capabilities.
